Maybe this is a dumb question but...?

Do babies breathe while they are in utero? Last night I was doing my normal belly watch (where I watch it bump up, kick around and move) Well, there was a bump that was moving up and down rhythmically, but baby didn't have hiccups. I held my breath to see if it was my breathing, but it was still moving. What could the baby have been doing?
