Why does ffxiv keep freezing my computer?

randomly my computer will freeze up completely while playing ffxiv. i can play any of the newer games on highest resolution and settings with no lag or hiccups. but yet even when i play ffxiv on lowest settings and lowest resolutions it freezes my whole pc. the only thing i can do is hard boot it. what is the issue?
